Chen, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tony-chen\/5488516886\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5171\/5488516886_8eee3a2c57_z.jpg\" alt=\"Abel Tasman Park, New Zealand\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Total Miles Traveled:<\/strong> 59,909<\/p>\n<p>Abel Tasman Park is home to one of the most popular multi-day hikes in New Zealand. \u00a0It&#8217;s known for its secluded golden sand beaches and nice weather.<\/p>\n<p>Travel Notes: We stayed at the Split Apple Lodge &#8211; a nice, eco-friendly B&amp;B albeit 10 minutes from both Marahau and Kaiteriteri. \u00a0We&#8217;d recommend staying here if you&#8217;re OK with driving for meals, and if you do, go to Marahau. \u00a0The food&#8217;s better there, though there are only a couple of options.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lisaandtony.com\/travelblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/map_abeltasman.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1470\" title=\"map_abeltasman\" src=\"http:\/\/lisaandtony.com\/travelblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/map_abeltasman.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"476\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Kayaking and hiking are the major activities in the Abel Tasman park area. \u00a0So, we did a tour that had both &#8211; we kayaked the first part of the day, then we were dropped off at one point in the park, Bark Bay, for a 2 hour hike.. \u00a0After the one-way hike, we were picked up in another part of the park, Torrent Bay, which was supposed to be the nicest hike in the park. \u00a0 Unfortunately, there are no roads that go in to the park so you have to take water taxis everywhere or hike.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Abel Tasman Park, New Zealand by T. Chen, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tony-chen\/5488043449\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5214\/5488043449_78bde6c51c_z.jpg\" alt=\"Abel Tasman Park, New Zealand\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The tide was so low that they drive tractors with boat trailers hundreds of yards away from the shore (it&#8217;s all sand). \u00a0The boat then drives on to the trailer. \u00a0Then the tractor hauls it back to land. \u00a0 We expected to get off at a dock but instead, we stepped off the back of the trailer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Abel Tasman Park, New Zealand by T.
