Chen, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tony-chen\/5501973748\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5297\/5501973748_4c2f1dacb7_z.jpg\" alt=\"Marlborough Region, New Zealand\" width=\"640\" height=\"428\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Total Miles Traveled:<\/strong> 60,018<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Marlborough is not the only wine region in New Zealand, but it is the most well known and exported. \u00a0In fact, we hear that because of the unfavorable exchange rate and the more restrictive wine import and distribution laws in the U.S., there&#8217;s a glut of New Zealand wines, and that means lower prices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Marlborough is primarily known for white wines &#8211; specifically sauvignon blanc and pinot gris among some other varietals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/lisaandtony.com\/travelblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/map_blenheim.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1476\" title=\"map_blenheim\" src=\"http:\/\/lisaandtony.com\/travelblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/map_blenheim.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"590\" height=\"467\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Marlborough Region, New Zealand by T. Chen, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tony-chen\/5501382183\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5015\/5501382183_2eda214cb7_z.jpg\" alt=\"Marlborough Region, New Zealand\" width=\"640\" height=\"428\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">So what were our favorite wineries? \u00a0 We liked pretty much every wine at Forrest and their wines were pretty affordable. \u00a0Hans Herzog was also another winner, albeit more expensive. \u00a0And finally, though it&#8217;s mass produced, Cloudy Bay was very good, especially the Te Koko Sauv Blanc, which had been stored in oak longer than most other sauv blancs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In wine country, there are also great places to eat. \u00a0So we had many fantastic meals. \u00a0We tried to eat as much lamb as possible, and it was very clear that lamb is better in NZ. \u00a0 I&#8217;m sure it&#8217;s the fact that it&#8217;s so fresh and free range.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"20110304-P1040703 by T.
