Chen,  on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tony-chen\/4719774058\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4017\/4719774058_349f67493b_b.jpg\" alt=\"Empanadas Class with Teresita, Adrogue, Argentina\" width=\"614\" height=\"411\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">One of our goals while travelling is learning how to make the cuisine of the countries we visit. \u00a0So when we finally settled down in Buenos Aires, we started researching cooking classes. \u00a0We would have loved to learn how to make an &#8216;asado&#8217; &#8211; Argentina&#8217;s version of BBQ. \u00a0But we learned that many of the most savory cuts of meat are not available in the US. \u00a0 Instead, we found the perfect class &#8212; a hands-on course to learn how to make empanadas.<\/p>\n<p>Empanadas are Argentina&#8217;s version of \u00a0the dumpling. \u00a0They are the &#8216;all-Argentinian&#8217; snack food and can found throughout the country &#8211; from convenience stores to high end restaurants. \u00a0Each region may tweak the recipe slightly but the main idea is the same. \u00a0Make dough and stuff it with yummy meaty goodness and either bake or fry.<\/p>\n<p>The class was offered by a woman who owns a B&amp;B in Adrogue &#8211; a\u00a0nondescript middle class\u00a0suburb about 60 minutes outside of Buenos Aires. \u00a0 There were 2 other people in the class &#8211; a couple from San Diego!<\/p>\n<p>Although they seem like they would be difficult to make, it&#8217;s actually quite easy. \u00a0It goes a little like this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>First, you make the filling. \u00a0We made two types, humita (ground corn) and ground beef. \u00a0 The beef version has onions, sliced eggs, sliced green olives, hot and sweet paprika, crushed red peppers, cumin, and raisins &#8211; sauteed in butter and canola oil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Empanadas Class with Teresita, Adrogue, Argentina by T.
